Margaret Blaine was a young woman who married her American sweetheart Forrest Blaine the day before his death in the Normany landings on 6th June 1944. She killed herself the same day at an inn in Devil's End and preceded to haunt the grounds for the next half-century.

Among those to witness the apparition of Margaret was Mable in 1949, who promptly demanded to leave and ordered her husband Henry to drive her to her father's estate in Cobham. Decades later, Canon Smallwood rented the room and innkeeper Cyril Wilfred warned that he would not be staying long due to the hauntings. Sure enough Smallwood witnessed Margaret's apparition later that night, and Olive Hawthorne paid a visit the next day. Olive and Smallwood set about investigating the ghost, Olive thought that as the ghost kept repeating the phrase "Forrest" that she was trapped in the house and wanted to be released into the nearby wood where her body was buried. However, when Olive and Smallwood expelled the ghost using incense, Olive realised that Margaret had been searching for her husband Forrest. (COMIC: The Ghost [+]Loading...["The Ghost (comic story)"])
