"A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square"
From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
In 1941, a singer at the Ritz dance hall sang "A Nightingale Sang at Berkeley Hall". Jack Harkness danced with his namesake, also Jack Harkness, much to the surprise of all those surrounding them, due to then-current views on homosexuality. After Jack returned to the Hub in the 21st century, he referred to the lyric, "There were angels dancing at the Ritz.". (TV: Captain Jack Harkness)
Lyrics
- That certain night, the night we met
- There was magic abroad in the air
- There were angels dining at the Ritz
- And a nightingale sang in Berkeley Square.
- I may be right, I may be wrong
- But I'm perfectly willing to swear...
