A series script editor is the head of the script team. Sheena Bucktowonsing was the first to receive this credit for Doctor Who, in 2018.

Series script editors act as a point of contact for all writers and their agents, with regard to the writing slate. They submit writers for consideration, preside over the script delivery schedule, and ensure deadlines are being met.

The series script editor works to implement the vision of the executive producers, as well as the series producer, into commissioned scripts. They are also responsible for script continuity.[1]

While Bucktowonsing filled the role of series script editor, others, such as Fiona McAllister and Nina Métivier, served as script editor on individual episodes. Hannah Mason acted as assistant script editor throughout series 11.
