Viola was being unknowingly created by Victoria Waterfield, aided by a piece of the Keeper of Traken's mind. She had certain powers of creation and summoning, which sometimes went beyond even her control. As such, Viola identified both as being a Trakenite and a visitor to Traken.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

While on holiday in Caslandir on Traken, Victoria met the Keeper on the day before the Gardenship Festival. He had had a glimpse of the Traken's future fate, and gave to her a lachanium flower which contained a piece of her mind via the Source, knowing that this part of Traken would outlive the Union.

Thus, when Victoria retired from her travels with the Doctor, while she attended a play with her new family, Frank and Maggie Harris, Viola was born, part-Traken and part-Victoria. She left the theatre to begin her adventures.

Later, Viola conjured up an astronomer named Neverglade who could help her travel through time and space. She became his companion, and together they set upon the goal of mapping the stars, eventually ending up back on the planet Traken. During this time, Viola met the Second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon and Victoria. During this time Victoria met the Keeper, precipitating Viola's own creation.

Viola's conjurings, and in particular Neverglade's universal map, caused havoc with the Traken biomatrix, and they were asked to leave the planet. (PROSE: The Astronomer's Apprentice)
