Gorky Sax was the personal assistant of Vortia Trear, one of the rich elite which looked out for themselves at the cost of the rest of humanity following the Dalek invasion in 200,101. Downtrodden throughout his life, he took an opportunity created by Jack Harkness' uprising on Trear Station and removed Trear's eyes to gain access to her great wealth.
