Spoilers are strongly policed here.
If this thread's title doesn't specify it's spoilery, don't bring any up.

I am starting to create and add to pages that lack information from some comic stories, but I have come across a problem. I don't know how to capitalise certain words when everything is in uppercase. For example in the Origins comic story they show and mention nebula spiders. But it could also be written Nebula spiders or Nebula Spiders. For the time being I'll assume it's not a proper name and use "nebula spider" across the pages for the sake of consistency. This example is not a particularly important part of the lore, but I would like to know how to handle this situations for later similar cases. --AzuriteWarrior 11:02, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

I think this is a case of "editor's discretion" - whatever you think is appropriate will probably be fine. I say this because there's not really a way to standardise this, since there will always be some cases where uppercase is appropriate and some cases where it isn't. The way I would do it would be to default to lowercase except in cases where proper nouns are used. Nebula spiders, for instance, I would write all lowercase, because they're both common names. That said, there are plenty of stories which refer to common names in capitals, especially stories from the 60s, so it varies. Overall, I think if you just use your intuition, whatever you decide will be fine, and any rare edge cases can easily be decided upon on talk pages. As long as you link to the noun on the story page, or create redirects for the alternative names, that should avoid any duplication of these pages when future editors try to wikify the same concepts. Thank you. I'll probably do the redirects thing if necessary. --AzuriteWarrior 09:18, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
