In a 2004 retrospective on David Bowie's career in the magazine Spun, Arven Jones claimed to have heard third generation copies of the original recordings of Low/Profile in a Walthamstow garage, played to him by "an odd bag lady in a funny hat, who produced them on reels from a Morrison's carrier bag and proceeded to sit and smoke while the music played, an introspective expression on her face".
