audio stub

B.E.S. Begins was the third audio drama in BBV's Adventures in a Pocket Universe series, written by James Mulholland. Reviving the series after a gap of over twenty years, it tied in with Mulholland's earlier novelisation of the first story in the series, which had introduced the character of B.E.S. to replace that of K9 due to BBV's license to use the character of K9 having run out.

As such, B.E.S. Begins was the first audio story in the series not to feature K9, instead focusing on B.E.S.. It was also the first story in the range to be an audiobook rather than a full-cast audio drama.

Publisher's summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

The ADVENTURES IN A POCKET UNIVERSE continue…

Everyone has to start somewhere, right? But not everyone can say that they began life as a ship's computer turned bionic ferret… well, I can. The name’s B.E.S.. (Bionically Enhanced Synth) and yes, that really is my name – unfortunately. And the start of my career as an adventurer was anything but stress-free.

Waking up with my memory wiped and my ship hijacked by psychotic cultists on a murderous rampage wasn’t exactly the best start to my day.

And to top it all off, my fate rested in the hands of a mad woman claiming to be a space-time traveller!

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • K9's Mistress was intended to be Romana and Ecto-Space was intended to be E-Space; alternative names were used because BBV Productions did not have the license for these characters and concepts.
