Studio Kite is a professional model-making company with "roots" in New York City, Sydney, and the Byron Bay Hinterland in New South Wales.

In 2005, they were hired to create eight original full-size robot models for a televisual Robots Ad [+]Loading...["Robots Ad (TV story)"] which also featured licensed appearances by Daleks (preexisting models provided by Canberra Daleks & Robots) and the B9 Robot from Lost in Space (also a preexisting prop, supplied by Glen Weir). Studio Kite's props, reportedly created in only nine days, included a reproduction of the robot "John" from the notorious 1962 Soviet science-fiction film Planeta Bur as well as seven original designs, many (though not all) of whom were given official nicknames in the behind-the-scenes featurette on the making of the short film that was subsequently released on Facebook by Canberra Daleks & Robots.
