Carla was a Vampire and the Queen of the Empire of the Twelve Planets. Her younger brother, Prince Zyman, usurped the throne and stole her Bloodline, leading her to flee with her mortal handmaiden Persis. In a last ditch effort, the pair travelled to the Hidden Planet, where the legendary and very old Captain Jack Harkness was said to reside.
Carla and Persis did successfully find Jack at the abandoned Temple of the Veils on the planet, but were stranded there for decades. There, Carla both grew closer to Persis and befriended Jack.
