Hero of the Soviet Union

Hero of the Soviet Union was an award of the Soviet Union.

In 1945, as the Soviet Army reached Berlin, rumours circulated among soldiers that whoever found Adolf Hitler dead or alive would be proclaimed a Hero of the Soviet Union.
