UFO Validity via licensed Space Suit[[edit source]]

In Countdown not only Was Doctor Who published but so was UFO a Tv Show created by Gerry Anderson. In one UFO strip space suits originally worn by the Third Doctor are also worn by members of SHADO (the organisation in UFO) as these Stroies where illustrated by the same person and thus legal licensed this I believe constitutes a valid crossover between UFO and Doctor Who. The strip the Uniforms appear in is called ‘to Old at 32’ and those same spaces suits (fully licensed and I believe intentionally reused as UFO and the UNIT era occur around the same time in the early 80’s) appear in Lords of the Ether (comic story). I would argue that whilst not necessarily a strong connection I believe that this is none the the less a true if minor corssover. Anastasia Cousins 14:44, 23 October 2024 (UTC)

Could you provide images? Unless they're very distinct designs, I feel like an artist illustrating two spacesuits similarly wouldn't really count as reusing a specific element (even if I would like to cover a UFO story). Cookieboy 2005 14:48, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
the space suit is not sewn very clearly in either story mostly covered in shadow and whilst I have several photos from to old at 32 I only managed to find one good one from lords of the ether I would also like to point out that the recent UFO comic collection explicitly points this out the reuse of the space suit as well as highlighting the illustrators work on both Doctor Who and UFO above all else so I feel that is worth noting. I will upload once for each that I believe most highlights the similarities

I'm still not certain on whether this really counts as a link - it feels more like the same artist drawing a spacesuit the same way twice. I'll add a gallery below of the above images.

it could definitely be the case however like I said the UFO comic anthology explicit Points it out on its page discussing the illustrator. And said page is the pages which most discusses Doctor Who in the whole collection. And if these had been set decades apart then I would have completely agreed with you. But they are both set around the start of the 80’s hence my belief of a possible crossover. If I find any other similar ‘equipment sharing’ in the UFO comics I will attempt to share it here as well. If the space suit does not convince you that is. |Anastasia Cousins 09:46, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
