Cornelius was a pirate captain in the far future. (PROSE: The Coming of the Terraphiles)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Captain Cornelius first appeared in the short story Ironface in the 2008 sci-fi pirate anthology Fast Ships, Black Sails. This story was adapted into the prologue of The Coming of the Terraphiles [+]Loading...["The Coming of the Terraphiles (novel)"].
- Cornelius is a version of the character Jerry Cornelius, who appears in many of author Michael Moorcock's non-Doctor Who stories. The 1977 Jerry Cornelius novel The Condition of Muzak previously referenced Doctor Who by including the Fourth Doctor and the Daleks in Britain's mythological pantheon.
- Moorcock originally wanted Captain Jack Harkness to appear in this novel, but, due to this not being possible due to the restrictions placed on tie-in novels, he instead used Captain Cornelius in Jack's place.[1]

It was a little difficult to write because of the constraints but the editors were really helpful. Auntie is still Auntie. So far the response has been pretty positive.”
