Cwmtaff, alternately spelt Cymtaff, (PROSE: Prehistoric Incursions [+]Loading...["Prehistoric Incursions (feature)"]) was a small village in Wales, which in 2020 was home to a large drilling operation led by Dr Nasreen Chaudhry and Tony Mack. (TV: The Hungry Earth)

In 2011, BBC News reported that the government approved additional trials of the Cwmtaff Discovery Drilling Project. (TV: The Man Who Never Was) This was fully operational by 2020.

They chose the location because of the blue grass, which the Eleventh Doctor later attributed to a warning from the Silurians below. Few people lived in the village, and most were related, according to resident Ambrose Northover. Ambrose lived in Cwmtaff with her husband Mo and son Elliot. (TV: The Hungry Earth) The Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory Williams visited Cwmtaff and became involved in the human-Silurian conflict there. The village was situated far above an underground Silurian city. (TV: The Hungry Earth / Cold Blood)
