By one account, the Doctor's universe existed in a multiverse formed by the intersection of the Realm of Law and the Realm of Chaos, known as the Million Spheres. The Eleventh Doctor believed himself to be an instance of a heroic archetype that recurred through this multiverse. The cycle of universal regeneration was present across the entire multiverse, with Law and Chaos switching places as the dominant forces of reality in an event known as the Conjunction of the Million Spheres.

The Ghost Worlds regularly migrated through these universes.

The Guide Sensors were among the first inhabitants of the Doctor's universe to map this multiverse. Renark of the Rim, a Sensor, once discovered a universe he thought represented the multiverse, which became known as Renark's multiverse by theoretical astrophysicists. Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • This multiverse, being the setting of the Michael Moorcock Multiverse, was established in the 1961 novelette The Sundered Worlds. Renark of the Rim was a character from this novel.
  • In the works of Moorcock, the recurring name of the "Million Spheres" originates from the Corum novels.
