Shayde?[[edit source]]
I haven't listened to these stories, but it sounds like in name and appearance (glass heads?) these guys look like Shayde. That might be an avenue to investigate. TheChampionOfTime ☎ 13:53, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, that did occur to me whilst listening to the stories. No mention of it in the Behind the Scenes, unfortunately.
- The section on loa, however, seems like a bit of a stretch to me. Jack ☎ 14:00, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yea, I agree that the now multiple sections on possible identities seem like a stretch. I tend to think the purpose of a page is to focus on its subject as a primary topic, and devoting most of the page to other similar topics leads to a dilution. If this is one of multiple mythologies relating to Shayde, then making it a hub for all Shayde mythologies dilutes our coverage of the Time Shades as a distinct mythology; Shayde is the centre of that wheel, this is just a spoke. On the other side of the shoe, it wouldn't make sense for loa or Time Sentinel to have entire sections claiming that if you ignore the contradictions those beings might just be the Time Shades, because then if you wanted to learn more about the Time Shades you'd come here and half the information would be about the Loa again and who exactly all these things are wouldn't be clear. IMO the only connection justified by the text is with Shayde, and there's not much more to say on the matter than looking similar and also being made of shapeshifting shadows; maybe we'll get something more if Big Finish ever makes an audio adaptation of The Tides of Time. - I do think, if we mention the Shayde connection, it is important to mention alternate accounts, lest someone who only looks at this page leave under the impression that the Time Shades are Shayde's single, uncontroversial backstory. But yes, I would agree that a whole "possible identifications" section for entities whose identification is not an in-universe topic of contention nor explicitly the subject of alternate accounts is very strange. At most the similarity to the Spirits of Time (and that's really the right page to link to, not the more general loa) should warrant a single sentence, perhaps in BTS. --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 00:58, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Happy to agree to removing it as the T:BOUND state while this is under discussion, if that section is considered seriously contentious.

- I do think it's misleading to mention any of these possible identities without covering the various accounts or why they might appear connected, but maybe it should be reworked into a BTS?
- It does occur to me that given the audio medium, it may well be "Shayde of Time", but this seemed the Occam's razor spelling for sure. In any case, multiple writers have played with who Shayde might be. It's entirely possible this is another one of those, by authorial intent at least. And do remember this is Gary Russell (who was even DWM editor in that era, though not at the time any of Shayde's stories released). You can't really argue he's not familiar.
