Nasreen Chaudhry

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Dr. Nasreen Chaudry is a geologist from the year 2020 who, along with Tony Mack, was digging down into the Earth further than any other human had before. The digging began after Nasreen and Tony had noticed the appearance of a mineral in the local Cwmtaff area that hadn't been seen on Earth for many years. The digging continued until the Doctor arrived, and realised that something else was digging up to the surface. This turned out to be the Silurian race. As the Silurians get closer to the surface Tony announces his love for Nasreen and they kiss. After a member of her staff and his young son were taken by the Silurians, Nasreen accompanied the Doctor in the TARDIS deep below the Earth's surface. While Nasreen explored underground with the Doctor, she discovered a subterranean metropolis inhabited by the Silurians, far larger than she or the Doctor had anticipated. (DW: The Hungry Earth)

Later, she joined Amy Pond as an ambassador of Earth in the Human-Silurian talks for the fate of the planet. Though they ultimately reached an understanding, their talks were halted when it was discovered that Alaya, a Silurian, had been killed by Nasreen's friends, causing tension between the two races. Tony activated the drill under the guidance of his daughter, Ambrose Northover. The consequence of this being the drill would destroy the city of the Silurians. The Doctor decided to send up an energy pulse to destroy the drill, to Nasreen's mild chagrin. Tony, having been poisoned by Alaya, didn't have time to decontaminate himself, so he decided to hibernate with the Silurians. Nasreen decided to stay with him. In the year 3020, they would have been awoken. (DW: Cold Blood)
