Was it actually stated that 42 was set in the 42nd century? It was called "42" because of the minutes before impact with a distant sun, not because of the date. Plus, the sun (I can't remember its name) was said by the Doctor to be "on the other side of the universe" from Earth, and Humanity didn't even leave Mutter's Spiral until c. 5000, long after 4199.
