Veil (species)
The Veil were a species capable of taking over the bodies of other species.
Biology
The Veil were a reptilian humanoid race, with scaly skin and horns of various size protruding from their head and shoulders. They also had a long tongue which it could flail and retract at will and would show up when they possessed someone.
The Veil were capable of possessing other beings, effectively allowing them to "jump" into their bodies. When possessed, the Veil would be able to control the person and gain some of their memories, though the original person would be able to communicate with the Veil. The Veil also had the ability to stun people, a procedure which could be stopped by spraying the affected with water. (SJA: Prisoner of the Judoon)
History
The Veil were an ancient species, conquering worlds long before Earth had formed. At some point before the 21st century, the Veil planet was turned into a ball of ice when their star was extinguished, wiping out all but Androvax, who had been travelling the stars and returned to find his people dead.
Before they had died, a ship of 100 cryogenically frozen Veil were sent out into space, but crashed on Earth in the 1970s. It was taken and stored in a vault by the Alliance of Shades. (SJA The Vault of Secrets)
Believing his people to be dead, Androvax became a criminal who destroyed planets as he believed the truth of the universe was destruction, and was teaching them the way of the universe. This made him number one on the Judoon's known enemy list for destroying twelve planets. Androvax was eventually taken into custody by the Judoon. (SJA: Prisoner of the Judoon)
Androvax later returned to Earth in 2010 when he learned of the ship. He had been poisoned and was dying, but wanted to help save his race before he died. He tried to break in to the vault, but was stopped by Mister Dread and two other Alliance of Shades agents. He then went to Sarah Jane Smith for help, so she kept him in Mr Smith's containment vortex. When she returned unsuccessful, they visited Ocean Waters to get the second access key needed to open the vault. Body jumping between the Bannerman Road gang and Gita, he opened the Vault and boarded the spaceship with the 100 last Veil and was transmatted out to space by Mister Dread preventing Earth's destruction, and took off in search of a new home planet for the Veil.
