Tia Karim
Colonel Tia Karim was a member of UNIT.
Biography
Tia worked with the Claw Shansheeth of the 15th Funeral Fleet, a rogue group of Shansheeth, in order to travel the stars in The Doctor's TARDIS, as she felt there was nothing left for her on Earth. To reach her goal, she acted as a representative chosen to inform Sarah Jane Smith of the death of the Doctor. Once she accepted to come to the funeral, along with Rani Chandra and Clyde Langer, Tia showed them around the UNIT base. She succeeded in locking Rani, Clyde and Santiago Jones in part of the base, and attempted to literally roast them by trapping them in the air conditioning and turning the heat up to maximum. She was aware the Doctor would save them allowing the Shansheeth to capture Sarah Jane and Jo. They were attached to a Memory Weave but it overloaded due to their many experiences. It self-destructed and Tia was caught in the blast and killed. (SJA: Death of the Doctor)
Behind the scenes
- In the child-friendly Sarah Jane Adventures, any characters killed off either through their own misadventure or through the actions of Sarah Jane and her colleagues are usually aliens. Karim's death marks a rare occasion in which a human adversary is killed. (Although the fact we never see her body afterwards does leave the door open for her to have escaped.)
