My name is Robert Lipton and I am a native New Yorker who has been watching Doctor Who since its revival in 2005. It is my intention to help out here by doing a little line editing, something I used to do part-time until about twenty years ago. I have been and will continue editing purely in the interest of correct spelling, punctuation, consistency and clarity as I am not fanatical enough to become expert on the details of Doctor Who and its associated works.
In some cases, I have only been able to do a partial editing on a piece because the words chosen by previous editors are opaque to me. Sometimes it is a grammatical issue; many a sentence seems to take the form "He <verb clause> him" and I can't figure out who is doing unto whom. Sometimes a word is clearly wrong, but I can't figure out from the context what the correct word is. In cases like those, I will clean up what I can and leave the final choice to someone with a better idea of what the earlier workers meant.
In many ways, this is an ideal environment for me. I can do my work and not get involved in the politics of the situation. I request that you respect my wish to be useful and not bothered.
If you think there is a particular article that can use my abilities, please email me at [email protected] with a return address so I can discuss issues of what the earlier people have been trying to write.
