This is a tutorial for writing entries for comic stories

Basic requirements Before writing an article you should consider what information is available, as you may not have enough information to write a valid article.

At the very least, a valid article should have a Summary, Character list, the correct infobox and information to fill out a majority of the fields of the infobox (see below). It should also have the correct layout for a comic story as detailed below.

Please do not attempt to write a comic story article if you are unable to provide these.

Please also, if you do not have the necessary information or time to complete any of the other headings or sub-headings listed below, please include them and add ''to be added'' below the sub-headings so that other editors may add to them when more information becomes available.

By the very nature of a wiki all the other information will eventually be completed. No one here is expected to go it alone.

  • First onto the article is the the infobox; infobox for comic strips containing a Doctor and infobox for comic strips not containing a Doctor. Follow the links for a copyable version of the infobox, the page also has an explanation of all the fields in the infobox.
  • The infobox contains basic information such as; Series the Comic story is part of, Doctor, Companions, Setting, Published In, Publication title, Publication date and information on colourist, lettering, writer, artist and editor.

Summary

  • A short summary of the comic story.

Plot

  • This is a more detailed summary of the story. Images from the comic strip can also be included to illustrate sections of the plot description. Plot descriptions must be original content and not plagiarised or otherwise copied from another source. Please see our Plagiarism and copyright policies for more information concerning plagiarism and copyright before uploading any images or using any summaries.

Characters

  • This is a list of all the primary characters.
  • You can also place information pertaining to characters that does not fit within the 'references' list. (Indent and bullet point by using :*)

References

References are anything that is referred to in the comic story, these are generally links to other things in the Doctor Who universe, and are in-universe, links to other stories should go in Continuity)
  • This is a list of characters, organisations, planets, races and species and other items which are referred to in the comic story.
  • The list should be divided into categories, and for better clarification short descriptions of what it is (or how it fits into the story). (Keep this information in-universe)

Notes

  • This contains extra information about the comic story, behind the scenes writing, errors and other information about it etc.
  • Any other information which does not fall under other headings.

Continuity

Continuity refers to the links between stories and this comic story's links to them, for in-universe links use the References section.
  • Tie-ins between this comic story and other stories be them other novels, TV stories, audios, comic stories or other media.
  • These should be listed (in the same manner to any other story) with the prefix of the story's group followed by the story's title in italics, it does not need to be in brackets.

Timeline

Timeline refers to all Doctor Who media and attempts to place this story within the timeline

The timeline should be written something like this:

  • (page story title) occurs after: (prefix): (story title)
  • (page story title) occurs before: (prefix): (story title)

External links

  • Here you should place outside links to any sites you used in researching the article, or to sites which may have more information.

Lastly add a category, most comic story categories can be found by navigating through Category:Comic stories to find the appropriate sub-category (please do not put stories in the Comic stories category).
