Satellitte Five is a fictonal space station in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It first appearered in the episode The Long Game which was broadcast on May 7, 2005.

Satellite Five orbit the future Earth of 200,000.I t has a center cylindrical structure ringed by three hoops. The perpose of the hoops is unknown. Satellite Five is 500 floors tall. Floor zero is arrivals and departures. Floor 16 is the surgical level. Floor 500 is the editoral level - where management is based, and the place to which everyone aspires to be promoted. The walls are rumoured to be made of gold.I n reality it is very different:cold,abandoned and delapidated.

Satilite Five went on line in 199,909 during the Fourth Great and Bountiful Human Empire. It is responsible for broadcasting 600 channels of constant news reports. Personal gather,write, pacage and sell the news all from Satellite Five.

News is sorted using brain chip tchnology.T her are two types of brian chip. The first is a small processing chip implanted at the base of the skull. The other is a receptor chip impalnted in the forehead. The receptor chip is actavated - and the head is opened,to exposer for use - is the choice of the implantie. Once the receptor chip is actavated, compressed news information is streamed in to the persons brain and they become ,in efect, part of the softwear - there brain is the computer.B ut the brain only processes, it doesn't retain the information.

In 200,00, the Doctor,Rose and Adam materialises on floor 139. They discover that humanty is being manipulated by an unknown fource. They discover that Jagrafess is subtly manipulate the Empire, retarding its social, economic and technological growth and turning it more inward looking and xenophobic. In this way, the human race was reduced to slavery without them even realising it.

The environmental systems of Satellite 5 had been configured to vent all heat away from Floor 500, keeping it cold enough for the Jagrafess to survive, attached to the ceiling of the main control room. When the Doctor, Rose and Adam arrived on board, the Doctor recognised that human development had been deliberately obstructed and began to investigate. Ultimately captured by the Editor and about to be killed by the Jagrafess, the Doctor and Rose were saved by the actions of Cathica, a human journalist, who reverses the environmental systems. The Jagrafess overheates, swells up and explodes, apparently ending its threat and the scheme to hold back the human race.

In the episode Bad Wolf, set 100 years after The Long Game, Satellite Five has become the Game Station. Run by the Badwolf Corporation,it now broadcasts not only news reports but game shows and reality TV. The contestants are not volunteers, and anyone can be chosen at any time. The shows include a version of Big Brother House on Channel 44,000, The Weakest Link, What Not to Wear, Call My Bluff, Stars in Thier Eyes and Wipeout. If the contestants fail they are destroyed. The Game Station is run by the Controller, a pale woman hooked up by dozens of cables to the station, constantly monitoring the transmissions that flow through her. She Was hooked up when she was five years old.

The Doctor, Rose and Jack wake up to find them selves on board the Game Station. The Doctor has been transported to a future version of Big Brother, Rose is forced to play a deadly version of the Weakest Link and Jake appears in a 2001th century version of What Not to Wear.

Once escaping the Doctor discovers that the Daleks have been controlling humanity. They have been hiding their own transmissions within the Game Station singles - and before that, Satellite Five's tranmissions, controlled for them by The Jagrafess. They have been controlling the human rce for centries from behind the scenes. The Daleks were almost wiped out because of the Tme War. A single dalek ship survived.The survivors waited, slowly infiltrating humanityand taking the refugees and dispossessed to create new daleks.

The Daleks are finaly destroyed when Rose,having mental making contact with the heart of the TARDIS,turns every last Darlek in existance to dust.
