Howling:Torchwood 2008

When is Torchwood series 2 set. Now I am not talking about that whole year skip thing but think about it right. Now according to those who take the year skip then series 4 of new who is 2009 right, so Torchowood is 2009, because they are year ahead of when they were broadcast and both where broadcast in 2008. Or if you don't believe the year skip both were in 2008. Only thing is last of the time lords right is either in 2008 or 07 depending whether or not you take the year skip. Now at the end of last of the time lords Jack leaves to be with that old team of his, so does it take him six months or one night at the most. I would have thought that Kiss Kiss Bang Bang took place a day at the most after Last of the time lords which would mean it and presumbly the rest of Torchwood series 2 take place in the same year as Doctor who series 3 not doctor who series 4. So whether you count the year skip or not surely Torchwood series 2 is a year or six months earlier than it aired, what do you guys think is this an old arguement or a new dating controversy that has been discovered. It's set during January to April 2008 time, as confirmed by the offical in-universe website, the novels, and the TV series itself. Anyone who goes against all confirmation from all three are stubborn idiots, and saying it isn't is more... fanfiction. They're don't decide the rules, the writers do. Doctor Who series 4 is quoted as being in 2008, too, in-universe. It takes place after Torchwood series 2, which is confirmed 2008.

Doctor Who series had in-universe dialouge placing it in 2007, and it takes place after the latter half of Torchwood series 1, which had dialouge putting the later half in 2007. The list goes on. Because the Doctor is a time traveler, he could time issues, and that is as far as you get for an explanation. Steven Moffat's explanation for this year rubbish: wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey.

Yeah but Delton my point isn't the year skip. As I am saying thats fine if you want them to take place the year they were broadcast. So fine doctor who series 3 takes place 2007 okay thats fine. But my point is Jack leaves at the very end of series 3 to go back to torchwood so as I said unless it takes him six months as that was meant to be May or summer how can kiss kiss bang bang take place in january the next year. It would provided he dosen't get mixed up in something else [which though he has a habit of there is nothing to suggest he does] have to be a day or a couple at the most after last of the time lords Kiss Kiss Bang Bang has to take place in the same year as series 3 then. I suppose you could say the rest of the series happens later nothing to suggest it dosen't and I believe you that some evidence websites on screen information, the whole of series two is probably meant to have taken place over a long period of time like it would obviously take Martha a while to get established in UNIT so its fine then to assume series 2 takes place from the end of the series 3 year well into the beginning of the series 4 year of doctor who. But my point is that the beginning of it takes place after last of the timelords and therefore in the same year as whenever that is set. I don't really think the doctor changing events here can explain that either as okay he might change other events like the year skip but he isn't really going to change how long it takes jack to get back to torchwood. also this dosen't mean that doctor who series 4 has to take place the same year. Like I said some of torchwood series 2 could take place in the same year as series 3 of doctor who while the later part of it takes place in the same year as series 4, Martha went on about finishing her course at the end of last of the time lords as I said that and getting a job with unit would at least take her a couple of months. So series 2 must take place over that amount of time anyway. This dosen't have anything to do with that year skip though as the last of the time lords could take place in 2007 or 2008 but the point is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang takes place a relatively short time after it. I think Gwen had said that Jack had been gone for months on end at the begining of series 2, so I safely assume that, fitting with the series 3 Doctor Who finale being in May or June time, combined with Gwen's comment that it had been months, it had been 6 or 7 months at the most, explaining why the begining of Torchwood series 2 took place in January 2008. We learn that the Torchwood team went on their wild goose chase during the events of the Doctor Who series 3 finale, but they were used to Jack's absense and doing other things at the begining of Torchwood series 2, meaning it must have been quite a while since The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords - now being January 2008. I forgot about that wild goose chase yeah whatever that was it could have taken them months to get back to torchwoood up until January as you said.
