Jeremy Webb directed the Doctor Who television story The Curse of the Black Spot, written by Steve Thompson and aired as the third episode of Series 6 (although it had originally been intended as the ninth).

Prior to joining Doctor Who, Webb had worked extensively on Merlin, another fantasy series shown on BBC1, helming several episodes for each of the its first three seasons. Curse of the Black Spot made him the fourth director to have worked on both shows, following James Hawes, Alice Troughton and Ashley Way.
