  • This Target Books titles is a complete rewrite of a previous title The Making of Doctor Who published by Piccolo Books on which Terrance Dicks was a co-writer along with Malcolm Hulke.
  • Terrance Dicks writing aims this book at a younger audience than the previous edition of this title.
  • Chris Archilleos provided the cover artwork of this title which ran to a print run of 50,000 copies and was priced 60p (UK).
  • This title saw a reprint by Target Books, W. H. Allen in March 1980 of 15,000 copies. The only difference was a price increase to £1.80 (UK).
