Alice Carter
Alice Carter (née Melissa Moretti, previously Alice Sangster), born 5 August 1975, was the daughter of Jack Harkness and a former Torchwood Three operative Lucia Moretti, an Italian. She was also Gray's niece.
Biography
Alice lived with her son, Jack's grandson, Steven, who, like every child in the world, was briefly taken over by the 456. In 1977, Alice was put under cover by her mother, Lucia, who died in 2006 of natural causes. While Alice's parents were recorded as James and Mary Sangster, the government knew they did not exist.
Following the first sign of the return of the 456, she was visited by her father, who wanted to perform some tests on Steven. She denied Jack the opportunity, as she saw the potential harm that could befall her son should he associate himself too much with his grandfather. The conversation also revealed she had led Steven to believe Jack was his uncle, presumably until he became old enough to realise Jack did not age and was actually his grandfather.
Agent Johnson and her men took Alice and Steven into custody to use against Jack.
On Day Five, Alice and Steven were released from prison, but Jack needed a child to reverse the signal that killed Clem MacDonald, to use against the 456. With no other child available to transmit the signal, Jack was forced to use Steven, against Alice's wishes, which resulted in his death. Afterwards, Alice encountered her father in a hallway, but turned and left him without saying a word. (TW: Children of Earth)
