I'm going on Lance Parkin's assumption that the "Mescalin" (sic) mentioned by the Doctor in "The Ribos Operation" is Jasper Maskelyne, the most famous of the Maskelyne family magicians, particularly as his death was still fairly recent news when that story was produced. Of course, it could just as easily have been Jasper's grandfather, John Nevil, who set down many of the basic rules of stage magic and wrote one of the first stage magic instruction books. Plus, he was at his peak during the Victorian era, one of the Doctor's favorites. --Freethinker1of1 19:08, 28 Jun 2005 (UTC)
