In the 29th century, the Earth Empire continued to flourish. (DW: The Mutants) as Solar flares 'roasted' Earth and humanity fled on spaceships until the sun stabilised. (DW:The Ark in Space) The UK populace (ruled by Liz Ten) fled on Starship UK with the help of the last Star Whale. (DW: The Beast Below)
The standards of craftsmanship in the century may have been very high, as The Doctor estimated that the interior Nerva Beacon had originaly been built in the late 29th or early 30th century. (DW: The Ark in Space). On another trip to Nerva, the Doctor surmised that this was the same station they had left, but thousands of years before the solar flares that devastated Earth. (DW: Revenge of the Cybermen).
