Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang is the first episode in the second series of Torchwood.


Synopsis

Captain John, an old friend of Jack Harkness, appears through the rift and causes problems for the Torchwood team.

Plot

It is midnight on a lonely Cardiff street. As an old woman approaches a crossing, she hears a car radio blasting out pop music. As the car comes into view, she realizes that the driver is a blowfish, yet it has a body. As the lights turn green, the blowfish gestures to her, allowing her to cross, only to drive away at a alarming speed once she crossed. She looks to her right, only to see the Torchwood SUV pull up beside her. Gwen, in the passenger seat, asks the lady if she's seen a blowfish driving a sports car, to which the lady points them in the right direction to which the lady replies to herself "Bloody Torchwood"!. As they are in pursuit, Gwen asks what they're going to do once they capture the blowfish. Tosh remarks how Jack would have known what to do, to which Owen talks about how Jack left them and how they'll fend for themselves. With help from Owen, who takes out one of the tires on the sports car, bringing it to a halt. Desperate, the alien blowfish runs into a nearby house, shoots the father in the leg and takes the daughter hostage, leaving the mother cowering in fear. The team rush in, to which the blowfish exclaims "Ah team Torchwood" He then goes on to spout that the team is without their teacher, and how they are frightened without him. He talks about the team and their profession in the organization, ending on Ianto, asking him whether his aim is good to take him out without hurting the girl. The blowfish continues to taunt Ianto, until a single gunshot is heard. the bullet goes straight through the blowfish, killing him instantly. the team look around, until they discover Jack standing at the oppisite end of the room. He looks at them, and says "Hey kids. Did you miss me?"
