Why this page was created
As the BBC has officially commissioned the 5th series, and as we're already seeing information about the 6th series of Doctor Who coming out before its 5th series even airs, I feel it's justified to do an article at this early stage. 23skidoo 13:35, March 4, 2010 (UTC)
Confirmation
Because the BBC had confirmed it and if more facts/spoilers were realeased people would want to know. People like me, and, probably you would come here to look and find those facts. Ghastly9090 10:28, November 13, 2010 (UTC)
luke?
Is he or is he not going to be in the new series? Joshoedit 19:09, November 25, 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, Luke is going to appear in one of the adventures filmed alongside Series 4. And it's a full fledged appearance, not just a webcam cameo. 81.135.25.153 18:03, December 16, 2010 (UTC)
Broadcast
Has there been any word as to whether broadcast might be delayed due to the decision to do a fall season for Doctor Who? Merlin's already been pushed into 2012 because of it. Except for a little overlap at the start and end of seasons I don't think we've had DW and SJA seasons running at the same time before. 68.146.64.9 01:44, February 8, 2011 (UTC)
Well You could but torchwood series 4 in the gap but thats to R18 for prime time and SJA series 5 will fit perfectly in the gape but its to CBBCish so.... any one for top gear? Joshoedit 02:21, February 19, 2011 (UTC)
- I guess it became a moot point now if they can't film the second half of the season. :( Digifiend 00:35, April 20, 2011 (UTC)
- It's not a moot point YET. The first three serials were filmed so it's entirely possibly they'll air them or go to a DVD release, which would be logical. And that's assuming they're ending SJA production. They might just overhaul the second half of the season and replace or write her out. Admittedly this all sounds harsh considering she just passed, but the BBC is a buisness, and it has to get money back somehow. And SJA is one of the best shows on CBBC, and one of the best children's shows acrosss all channels. So they're gonna give it thought before canceling it. As it currently stands, no major announcements have been made, so the series is on hiatus.- Excalibur-117-(talk • contribs) 20:54, April 20, 2011 (UTC)
- The filmed episodes (or clips of them) will probably end up on YouTube, if they're not already.
The show is called The Sarah Jane Adventures, so they're not going to write out the part of Sarah Jane. It would seem really strange to have Sarah Jane's name in the title, but not have Sarah Jane as a character.Icecreamdif 14:35, April 21, 2011 (UTC)
- The clips are not, and will not (for some time) be on Youtube. Finished episodes will, in my opinion, air at some point in the not-too-distant future, but I am not a CBBC executive. If it's financially plausible, the show could easily be written into some sort of "Bannerman Road Adventures" featuring probably Clyde and Rani and in Sarah Jane's memory (after a tribute/explanation episode of some sort). I don't think the series is on hiatus, however. Everything still seems to be on schedule as before, albeit pre-production on the remaining episodes has likely ceased and is being discussed behind closed doors. Television series like 8 Simple Rules, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, Sealab 2021, The Sopranos (primary co-star), and 15/Love (two stars) all had their main actor pass away during production and were forced to adopt different approaches and often major revamps to accept this fact. Or, like the Perry Mason DTV movies, cease production entirely. We don't know yet what approach will be taken, and we can't even say a hiatus has occurred officially until we receive confirmation.--Tim Thomason 03:22, April 25, 2011 (UTC)
- I'd say "Blake's 7" probably shows that the BBC has nothing against continuing a series after the title character has gone.Baziel 23:22, April 30, 2011 (UTC)
- Another point to make is that the BBC statement about Liz Sladen's passing worded the section about Series 5 as though it was still going to be broadcast. I can't find the statement just now, but if you find it you'll see what I mean. --The Thirteenth Doctor 23:42, April 30, 2011 (UTC)
Sarah Jane Adventures: series 5 to air
On 4 May 2011 in The Sun newspaper, they said this
The BBC is planned to continue to show The Sarah Jane Adventures despite star Elisabeth Sladen's death on 19 April 2011
The actress who played journalist Sarah Jane in the Doctor Who spin-off died of cancer last month aged 63. Bosses have benn unsured about the CBBC's show future with out her - and how to explain Sarah Jane's absense without upsetting young fans. But some sorcues say they want it to continue as a tribute for Elisabeth, who played the 3rd and 4th Doctor's companions in the mid 70s. She died with six episodes of the making of the fifth series. Once the scripts have been re-written it has hoped the show will air this year in Autumn 2011. A sorcue said: Writers will find a way to complete the series without Sarah. Fans will be thirlled to know it's returning

Half of this is false. it won't continue with out Liz Sladen.
Phil Ford, the head writer has also commented on Twitter: 'The Sun: "Writers will find a way to complete [SJA] without Sarah." BTW, I think there's two different things being confused a little in this story.
The Sun (and the denials) aren't talking about the showing of the three stories Elisabeth Sladen apparently completed prior to her death -- they were talking about re-gearing the show to have a new lead character (and the writers saying they will NOT be doing that...) - Peter Nolan, Facebook
- so the BBC is wrong is it? The six episode (three stories) will air, but there will be no new episodes BBCPhil Ford's Twitter.
- Right, OK maybe not all of them but now I want to talk about the 5th series DVD even know it MAYBE released next year.
http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/ have claimed that only 6 new episodes (filmed last year) will appear and no new episodes will be filmed as a tribute to Elizabeth Sladen. --The mysterious 16:53, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
It says it will not air with Elisabeth Sladen, yeah the 6 new episodes has been confirmed for the series. But on Day of the Moon confedinal, it had a studnt woman to make River Song fall off a building in New York, there were 2 look a likes, they maybe can do Sarah Jane with an other actress.
- It's not difficult to undertsand, but it may be difficult to accept. There will air the three stories, which is six episodes, which is half of the series. Then there will be no more Sarah Jane Adventures filmed. That's it's over. I;m sorry. However, this does not mean it's the end of Sarah Jane, she will live on in novels and comics. Mini-mitch\talk 17:26, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
Filming for three stories, two by Phil Ford and one by Gareth Roberts, was completed prior to Elisabeth Sladen's death. Production for series 5's final three stories was planned for spring 2011, but never commenced due to Sladen's illness. A special tribute, My Sarah Jane: A Tribute to Elisabeth Sladen, was aired on 23 April 2011. The BBC have confirmed that no further episodes will be produced. The six completed episodes of Series 5 will be broadcast at a future date. - Wikipedia, the free Encylopedia
I just want to say, once the series has aired, she will be watching this up in the heavens of space along with Jon Pertwee and Nicholas Courtney, R.I.P Elisabeth Sladen (1948-2011)
All the other characters
All the other characters will appear except Sarah Jane because Liz's death. But Anjli Mohindra, Daniel Anthony and Tommy Knight are planned to appear.
- Wrong, Anon. Sarah Jane will be in the six episodes we get to see - the other six will not now be filmed. Maybe they'll put the scripts online or something, or as an extra on the DVDs. Digifiend 22:56, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

Page needs updating
The BBC Press Office has announced the series begins on Oct. 3.[1] The article needs to be updated accordingly. In addition, the Notes section under the cast list needs to be adjusted - it says that Luke was scheduled to also appear in the season finale. According to coverage of Series 5, The Man Who Wasn't There was the finale story, but was (fortunately) filmed during the first batch. 68.146.80.110 14:13, September 20, 2011 (UTC)
