- 25th October - The Doctor witnesses the Charge of the Light Brigade, which he remembers as a "magnificent folly." It may be while witnessing this event that the Doctor sustained a wound which still bothered him in his third incarnation ("The Evil of the Daleks," "The Sea Devils").
- 5th November - Mollie Dawson's father is killed at the Battle of Inkerman ("The Evil of the Daleks").
- Unknown date - James Clerk Maxwell begins his studies of electromagnetism, upon which Theodore Maxtible and Edward Waterfield base their own experiments ("The Evil of the Daleks").
