Overview

Following a successful test run in 2010, Doctor Who: Monster Invasion, a collectible trading card and magazine from BBC Magazines, similar in concept to Doctor Who: Battles in Time, was released nationally in April 2011 fortnightly.

The first five issues included premiums and/or subscriber gifts.

Each issue had a packet of trading cards (also available separately at newsagents) consisting of twenty-four pages that included the following features;

• Card collection and gameplay
• Website info (how to unlock areas of the website to play games and bring the 3D cards to life)
• All-time top ten (cool countdowns)
• Gadget’s Gadgets (coolest gadgets in the universe)
• Alien Slamdown (monsters head-to-head)
• Episode Guide
• Where’s the Doctor (search and find)
• A-Z of Aliens
• Doctor Who Puzzles

A further insert featured a pull out four-player battle zone gameplay. Subscribers received an additional 4 packs of trading cards with this issue.
Doctor Who: Monster Invasion Issue 2 Beware the Silence!		Gadgets and Gizmos: Progenitor Slamdown pullout: The Silence Episode Guide: The Time of Angels A-Z: A is for Atraxi This second issue included the second of three part of a double sided poster featuring on one side a picture card tick list of all 165 trading cards to be collected and on the reverse an Eleventh Doctor montage. Also included was a TARDIS card collecting case (the roof being included as a bonus with issue 3) A further bonus was a card mounted Eleventh Doctor cut-out mask. Subscribers received a magazine box file and swap box with this issue.

Gadgets and Gizmos: Psychic paper Slamdown pullout: Weeping Angel Episode Guide: A Christmas Carol A-Z: B is for Bannakaffalatta This third issue included the final part of a three part of a double sided poster featuring on one side a picture card tick list of all 165 trading cards to be collected and on the reverse an Eleventh Doctor montage. Also included was the roof for the TARDIS card collecting case that came with the previous issue. A further bonus was a card mounted set of five new Daleks to cut out. Subscribers received a Doctor Who Battle pack of plastic moulded figures of 17 mini Daleks, 8 Cybermen and 8 Sontarans with this issue.
