I don't get how Captain Jack could be the Face of Boe. Like it says in this article, he mentions the Face of Boe, so therefore he must know about him. Also, he later says that he had the nickname, "The Face of Boe". But for some reason he doesn't realize this connection and realize that he is going to become the Face of Boe. How is this?? Is it just bad continuity?

He never mentions the Face of Boe, he also never meets him. (The Face of Boe appear in The End of the World, on a screen in The Long Game, New Earth and Gridlock) none of those stories feature Captain Jack. --Tangerineduel 05:28, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, since Jack is immortal, millions of years in the future he probably just evolves into a massive head (similar to the Doctor turning into a small creature in Last of the Time Lords), then Jack somehow travels back to the Dark Times and stays, naming himself the Face of Boe, after his childhood. When talking about FoB, no one has ever said he's from the 'Dark Times' have they, just that he's been around for a while. It's most likely possible that he will live to be the FoB while his 'past self' is running around being a time agent. --Tangerineduel 14:44, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

boe IS jack

i know there have been other discussions about this but i now have proof that boe IS jack (i think) boe dies in the year 5 billion and 53 (or some time near that) BUT he knows about yana who exists in the year something TRILLION, a bit more than a billion, so how else could boe know about yana unless he is actually jack and also i think its very unlikely the doctorwho writers will throw in a wild gosse chase about a charecter we are probably never going to see again81.108.233.59 18:04, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Not necessarily.
  1. Perhaps the Master got the idea from the Face of Boe. At some point in the Master's life, before he decided to hide in the far future, he could have met the Face of Boe. If the Face of Boe also knew about the Doctor at that point in time, he might mention on how the Master is not alone. Perhaps the Master then took the the name Yana subconsciously (or just to screw with the Doctor's mind).
  2. Perhaps the Face of Boe got it from the Doctor. Maybe the Doctor will later meet the Face of Boe before he died. Seeing that the Face of Boe believed that the Doctor was alone, he could mention the fact in order to complete the time loop.
  3. Perhaps it's a coincidence. The Doctor could just be drawing connections where he shouldn't. When you time travel for hundreds of years, you bound to find connections all over the place.
If you give me enough time, I could probably work out some other ways why the proof isn't definitive. -<Azes13 20:02, 21 October 2007 (UTC)>

sorry but i dont really understand any of that, can you explain a little more cleary please?81.108.233.59 08:13, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

I doubt I can simplify it any more, but I'll try...
  1. The Master leaves Gallifrey during the Time War, right? He tries to find somewhere to hide, so he goes to some place and time before Gridlock (which is when the Face of Boe dies). So he meets the Face of Boe at some point, right? And the Face of Boe realizes that the Master is a Time Lord and tells the Master "You Are Not Alone", since he also knows about the Doctor. Then the Master goes into the far future, turns himself into a human and either takes the name Yana subconsciously because of what the Face of Boe said or just to screw with the Doctor's mind.
  2. All right, so the Doctor is travelling through time and space, right? He goes to some point in time before the Face of Boe dies. He meets the Face of Boe and, after talking, the Doctor realises that the Face of Boe believes that the Doctor is alone. In order to create a time loop, the Doctor tells the Face of Boe to say "You Are Not Alone" when he dies. This means the Face of Boes learns the fact from the Doctor, the Doctor learns it from the Face of Boe and so on and so forth.
  3. I doubt I can simplify this any further. Based on all the things that people have said to the Doctor, there's bound to be acronyms all the time. This time, the acronym just happens work out nicely.
  4. Another reason which I just thought of is that there are plenty of cosmic entities who could do it (Fenric, any of the Eternals, one of the Guardians of Time, the Gods of Ragnarok, the Bad Wolf entity etc.). Any of them could have and might have done it.
