The Adipose First Family was an Adipose family.
At some point between 2009 they had lost their nursery planet, and by that time they had contracted Matron Cofelia to seed the Earth, even though this was in violation of Galactic Law as Earth is a Level 5 planet. For this purpose at least one Nursery Ship had been dispatched.
The operation was planed to have produced several million offspring, but had to be prematurely aborted when the Doctor intervened, and only about 10.000 young were ultimately birthed and evacuated. Agents of the First Family aboard the Nursery ship killed Matron Cofelia right before their departure of Earth, as they wanted to get rid of their accomplice.
