The Stromini are a reptilian race that has been known to use a psychic link to feed off of energy released by strong emotions like anticipation and excitement. Reversely emotions like disappointment can have a crushing effect. In order to maintain and build the energy the Stromini are able to extend the passage of time meaning that an hour could actually have lasted weeks or longer.
In December 2011 a Stromini hid inside the present for a young boy named Gabriel and feasted on the excitement and anticipation. Finally crushed by disappointment the Stromini was taken away by the Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory Williams in the TARDIS. (DWA: Wait Until Morning)
