The Howling → Who was the Shopkeeper?

Seeing as how The Sarah Jane Adventures has come to an end it seems we'll never find out who the Shopkeeper was, unless the writers decide to just tell everyone or release a book that explains it. We do know that he claimed to be 'a servant of the universe' and that he was probably a time-traveller.
