Circa the 26th century, Dalek Killers (otherwise know as DK's) were criminal citizen of the Earth Empire were given a slim chance of having their sentences commuted if they fought the Daleks, with miniscule odds of survival. (600 million to one, according to one estimate.)

Earth Empire judicial authorities would offer, as an alternative to execution, the chance to choose from a selection of weapons prior to teleportation to a Dalek Empire planet. (DWM: Abslom Daak... The most notorious Dalek Killer was Abslom Daak. DWM: Abslom Daak... Dalek Killer) Others included Máire, a contemporary of Daak's, who chose DK duty after her trial for political terrorism.
