The triceratops were a kind of herbivous dinosaurs living on prehistoric Earth. They have two large horns at the top of their heads and one small one near their nose. They walk on all fours, weigh over a ton and can be very dangerous in a fight. They have a frill made of solid bone above their heads and eat with beaks. They, like all other dinosaurs, were wiped out when the Cybercontrollers ship crashed into Earth. The Doctor incountered a few that escaped to the 1970s. (DW: Invasion of the Dinosaurs).

Triceratops is one of the most famous dinosaurs in the modern world, close to the Tyranosaurus-rex. Triceratops means "three-horned face". Many humans believed a Tyranosaurus-rex would easily win in a fight between it and a triceratops, but the 2006 documentary, "The Truth About Killer Dinosaurs", proved it wrong.
