Cline was the leader of a couple of soldiers encountered by the Doctor, Donna Noble and Martha Jones on the planet Messaline where he is fighting against the Hath. Both his father and grandfather fought the Hath. He is seen kissing Jenny, the Doctor's daughter, through the bars of a prison cell but she is tricking him to open the cell.
