The main villain here is indeed an Osiran named Kephri, who spends much of the tale effectively embodied as the actor, Karnak. The Osiran Robot kiled Kephri because the Doctor ordered it to do so (that panel's actually included in the infobox). If you're asking why was Kephri trapped in the Scarabaeus in the first place, and held at bay by the Ankh, well, I'm not sure the story actually answers it. Been a while since I read it, but as I recall it's just a "given fact" of the story — a sort of parallel to the Sutekh story. These are good questions, though.
