Continuity

  • The Doctor mentioned to Martha Jones in Last of the Time Lords, that they could take a trip to see Agatha Christie, but was unable due to Martha leaving at the time. Ironically, Martha leaves in the episode preceding this one.
  • The phrase "The bees are disappearing" is mentioned in the Partners in Crime and again in Planet of the Ood. This may be a reference to this episode. However, this episode features a giant wasp, not bee and is set 80 years before "The bees are disappearing".
  • This is the third time a famous author has appeared in the revived series. The first being Charles Dickens, the second being William Shakespeare and now Agatha Christie.
  • The Doctor brings out the Carrionite sphere in a chest of things beginning with C.
  • This is the third time that the Doctor has told a companion not to imitate an accent/dialect of certain time/place on Earth. The first was Rose doing a (poor) Scottish accent in Tooth and Claw and the second was Martha doing Elizabethan English in The Shakespeare Code. This time, Donna tried a posh English accent and speech.
  • This is the third time in the new series that a companion has kissed the Doctor.
