A parrot was a type of bird native to Earth.

They were known for the habit of mimicking and repeating voices. The Fourth Doctor once compared Leela to one when she started repeating what he said. (DW: The Invisible Enemy)

Pirates were frequently associated with pet parrots. The Captain of Zanak had a Polyphase Avatron, a parrot-like robot (DW: The Pirate Planet), while Baltazar had the robotic Squawk. (DW: The Infinite Quest)

The Shopkeeper had a 'pet' parrot that he called "Captain". (SJA: Lost in Time)

Ghislain was always accompanied by his parrot. (PDA: Blue Box)

Paradise parrots were worth 500 points in the I-Spyder Book of Earth Creatures. (NSA: The Last Dodo)

When trying to identify a picture of a Krafayis, the Eleventh Doctor's Visual Recognition System identified it first as a parrot and then a polar bear. (DW: Vincent and the Doctor)
