Dalek (The War Games)

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

During the Second Doctor's trial, the image of a silver Dalek was projected through a Thought Channel onto a screen as an example to the Court of the "evils" which he fought.

The last of five examples of evil cited, the Daleks were the "worst of all" in the Doctor's mind, the Doctor characterising them as a "a pitiless race of conquerors exterminating all who came up against them"; (TV: The War Games [+]Loading...["The War Games (TV story)"]) the Second Doctor had notably confronted them on Vulcan with Ben Jackson and Polly Wright, with another confrontation in Victorian England leading to him meeting Victoria Waterfield. (TV: The War Games in Colour [+]Loading...["The War Games in Colour (TV story)"], The Power of the Daleks [+]Loading...["The Power of the Daleks (TV story)"], The Evil of the Daleks [+]Loading...["The Evil of the Daleks (TV story)"]) As the Doctor listed these evils, images of the species were seen on the screen; in one account these were generic images of the monsters in motion, (TV: The War Games [+]Loading...["The War Games (TV story)"]) but in another, the images included snapshots of the Doctor and his companions' encounters with them. Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Dalek operator Robert Jewell and his fellow monster actors were uncredited on-screen for their appearance in The War Games, though they were credited in Radio Times. During filming, the assembled monsters posed for a picture with Second Doctor actor Patrick Troughton.
