At the time when the murders occurred, 1873 was considered by George Litefoot to be "quite some time" in the past. It also occurred at a point after Jack the Ripper's murders. During the events of the murders, Litefoot once read an issue of Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine which was cover dated February 1892.
