TV Terrors (series)
TV Terrors is an original series of comic strips published in TV Comic, including in their various annuals and holiday specials.
There series stars the titular "TV Terrors" - Buttons, Monica, and Cuthbert - attempting to obtain various celebrities' autographs, while often being chased away by the security guard Hoppit.
Crossovers[[edit] | [edit source]]
The series has shared various crossovers with the Doctor Who universe within the pages of TV Comic.
The first and perhaps most notable of these crossovers occurred in an instalment of TV Terrors, published in TV Comic issue #709. The story featured the titular TV Terrors attempting to obtain Dr. Who's autograph, having seen him on TV. During this, they stumble upon the TARDIS which they enter to escape from Hoppit. Within the ship, they press a button and find themselves in the Stone Age, realising what happened as they exited. Ultimately, they get chased away from a Stone Age TV Studio by a Stone-Age Hoppit, travel back in the TARDIS, and run away from the modern-day Hoppit.
Later, in the TV Comic Holiday Special 1967, the two series again crossed over by elements of both series being featured in the game TV Comic's Counter Game [+]Loading...["TV Comic's Counter Game (1967 game)"]. The game features the Keystone Kops (titular characters from the Keystone Kops silent films) driving around the board in their car. Late into the game, they may encounter the TV Terrors, who want one or more of their autographs. Earlier in the game, the Keystone Kops may encounter the TARDIS or a pair of Daleks.
In the TV Comic Holiday Special 1968, the two series again crossed over in a very similar way with the game TV Comic's Counter Game [+]Loading...["TV Comic's Counter Game (1968 game)"]. Midway through the game, the Diddymen (from Diddymen), the main characters in the game, may come across Dr. Who during their hike, stopping to listen to him play his recorder. Near the end of the game, they may also encounter the TV Terrors, and help them to escape Hoppit.
The following year, the game Basil Brush goes Rent Collecting [+]Loading...["Basil Brush goes Rent Collecting (game)"] was released in the TV Comic Holiday Special 1969, following a similar premise. Somewhat late in the game, Basil Brush (from Basil Brush), the game's protagonist, may be directed wrongly by the TV Terrors, travelling back ten spaces. Near the end of the game, he may also encounter "Tardis", causing him to move back eight spaces to avoid it.
Finally, in 1970, the TV Comic Holiday Special 1970 was released, containing the game TV Terrors Autograph Hunt [+]Loading...["TV Terrors Autograph Hunt (game)"]. Somewhat late into the game, one or more of the TV Terrors may stop to get Dr. Who's autograph, a somewhat interesting parallel to the earlier TV Terrors instalment.
