WSW 193

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

WSW 193, (PROSE: Scoop! [+]Loading...["Scoop! (short story)"]) also known as W.S.W.193, (PROSE: Zodiac's Rescue Bid! [+]Loading...["Zodiac's Rescue Bid! (short story)"]) was a space liner owned by World Space Ways in 2065. It had a capacity of one thousand passengers.

On its front page for 17 April 2065, TV Century 21 reported that officials at Space City were "puzzled" by the loss of radio contact with WSW 193, which had not been heard from since leaving Space Station Z 11 on its journey to Earth via Mars. A spokesman for World Space Ways was quizzed by a TV21 reporter on the matter, telling them the ship was "the safest thing that flies" and that there was "absolutely no cause for alarm". (PROSE: Scoop! [+]Loading...["Scoop! (short story)"]) Steve Zodiac later investigated WSW 193 after getting no response to a search request whereupon he discovered the dangerous Omega-Minus device, (PROSE: Zodiac's Rescue Bid! [+]Loading...["Zodiac's Rescue Bid! (short story)"]) which Jodrell Bank had previously tracked approaching Earth, (PROSE: Earth in Peril! [+]Loading...["Earth in Peril! (short story)"]) bolted to its underneath. Steve gave Professor Matic orders to destroy the ship with all aboard should he fail to release the device before WSW 193 entered Earth's atmosphere. Commander Zero agreed with this judgement, commenting "It is either the 1,000 passengers in the space liner, or the rest of the world" for the front page of TV21 on 24 April.
