Professor A. J. Wagstaff taught history at St Oscar's University.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Early life[[edit] | [edit source]]

Wagstaff once won a ceramic ornament with an air rifle and wrote a monograph on the Perfectons and their lack of space travel technology.

When Wagstaff arrived at St Oscar's, he requested the rooms that Bernice Summerfield would later be given but was not given them. He got the office that his colleague A. J. Blandish wanted and once borrowed a book from his library and believed that he lost it. Blandish had found it, however, and not told him. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!)

Perfecton[[edit] | [edit source]]

Wagstaff went on the St Oscar's expedition to Perfecton in 2593 and argued with Blandish over Benny's rooms after the Winton was destroyed. He agreed with Blandish that the missile responsible was unlikely to be left over from the Perfectons, citing his monograph, but Owl believed otherwise.

Lying on the floor, Wagstaff helped fight the Grel by hitting them with his walking stick. The academics believed that they were going to be killed by Perfecton's sun going supernova and Wagstaff and Blandish made peace with one another, with Wagstaff admitting that Blandish should have had his office. They were saved by the restored Winton. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!)

Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]

Wagstaff told Thooo that he did not like to leave his study very much. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!)

Appearance[[edit] | [edit source]]

Wagstaff was ancient and used a walking stick. Like Blandish, he had whiskers and wore tweed, but also had a vast moustache which was off-white because of his use of snuff. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!)
