  • The Target Storybook was officially announced on 5 August 2019.[1] Prior to this, it was listed for release but with no details.[3]
  • Cover art is by Anthony Dry, with illustrations by Mike Collins.[1][2][4]
    • The full cover art was revealed on 16 September 2019.[4]
  • The book is dedicated to Tommy Donbavand.
  • The wrap-around cover features all incarnations of the Doctor up to the then-current and also Adric.
  • An extract of Save Yourself was published to the BBC Studios Doctor Who website on 8 October 2019.[5]
  • A story by Gareth Roberts was to be included in the anthology.[3] While BBC Books paid him for his story, Roberts released a personal statement saying that it would not be printed following complaints from fans and authors regarding his transphobic remarks on Twitter in 2017.[6] Susie Day, another author for The Target Storybook, publicly stated: "I raised my concerns, and said if he was in, I was out. I don't share a platform with bigots."[7]
