Drowned in Moonlight was the fourth story in Wild Thymes on the 22. It recounts to friendship between Iris Wildthyme and Carrie Fisher, the actress known for her portrayal of Princess Leia in the Star Wars films.

The title is a nod to the quotation by Carrie Fisher in her 2008 autobiographical book Wishful Drinking that "I tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra."
